I first wrote about the old Northville Psychiatric Hospital property back in 2004 when the State of Michigan accepted a bid from a local developer on the property.
Fast forward 4 years, and the property is still entrenched in a quagmire. Now, because of difficulties between the developer and the Township, Livonia residents will have a chance to vote on August 5th whether or not to annex the property to Livonia.
Read the Livonia Chamber of Commerce's Question & Answers Report, check out the pros and cons and decide for yourself what the best course of action is for this property.
All I DO know is that this site along 7 Mile has been an eyesore for far too long!

It's not as much of an eyesore as whatever they'll be building there next. I really wish people would stop using that term, it's stupid.
What we should be doing instead of everyone arguing over all this is combining efforts to re-establish/reform the mental health system in this state. This facility never should have been closed in the first place. This state is in much greater need of a decent mental health facility than it is even more ritzy shopping and over-priced homes. What the hell was Engler thinking, anyway? No one is going back to the root of the problem, which began way before this fiasco between Northville and REIS.
I'm really just sick of hearing about this whole thing. It's becoming absurd.
